Wouter schreef onlangs:

And now to define what we’re all about…

We see change as the only thing we can hold on to, so we thought it’d be fun to use our new website to share with you, a work-in-progress.

We’ve just cooked up a first ‘values’ draft, at the bottom of this post, for your reading pleasure.

We stole from many sources for our inspiration (‘Authenticity is invaluable. Originality is non-existent.’), but today’s favourites were Zappos’ Core Values, and a quote from Ratatouille (see video below).

Enjoy!

Our Mantra

Building companies that take insecurities away!

Our Values

Love Change and Mistakes; Work from Excellence

Nothing is ever certain, except that things constantly change. This can be a little scary. We prefer to take comfort in change, to embrace it, and to encourage it. It keeps us sharp, allows us to adapt when the situation calls for it, and it drives real innovation.

More importantly, it creates room for making, loving, and learning from our mistakes. To accept that we cannot know what the future will bring makes it easier to jump into daring ideas. It helps us to pursue them whole-heartedly, and to identify failure as an essential and fun learning moment on the path of growth.

This is working from excellence instead of perfection.

‘It’s better to make a mistake with the full force of your being than to timidly avoid mistakes with a trembling spirit.’ Dan Millman – The Way of the Peaceful Warrior

Be Open, Honest, Equal, and Unique

To maximize people’s potential, people need to feel they have something to add. This can only be achieved when they are treated as equals in their uniqueness. To nurture this, we keep an open and honest atmosphere.

Wisdom is to be found in the collective; it never resides in one person’s mind. And brilliance can come from anywhere.

Compassionate communication helps others to voice their real opinions, instead of saying what the listener wants to hear. It raises problems, solutions, and new ideas that would otherwise remain hidden. It builds enduring relationships based on mutual trust and understanding.

Openness and honesty allows for direct feedback, be it positive or negative – both learning opportunities. It takes away cynicism and creates harmony. It invites people to grow into their own power instead of that exercised over them.

‘Seek first to understand, then to be understood.’ Stephen Covey – The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

‘Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.’ Anton Ego in the film Ratatouille

Keep a Clear Mind

A clear mind is a focused mind, capable of anything. We have the discipline to clean, standardize, and visualize our working environment.

This keeps us away from unnecessary distraction and clutter, so we can constantly deliver quality. More so, it creates space for inspiration, so that the really good ideas can pop up in our minds.

Clarify Expectations and Foster Commitment

People deliver superior results when they know what’s being expected of them. Clarifying goals, roles, responsibilities, and agreements creates focus, responsibility, and accountability.

More importantly, it fosters commitment, which allows people to actually excell – instead of just wishing they could.

And, let’s not forget, it makes working on a project more fun.

This goes for everyone involved, inside and outside the company.

Synergize and Do the Right Thing

We create a win-win relationship with whomever we work with, or we have no deal. We focus on results instead of individual stakes. This means doing the right thing, even if it is inconvenient.

A good working relationship is beneficial to all those involved. The pay-off may not always be immediate, but connecting with people who share the same value is always better in the long run.

Share and Seek Wisdom Transparently and Openly

We believe in abundance. Sharing what we’ve learnt, within, between, and outside the companies we support leaves us with more, not less.

Our gain is not someone else’s pain. We feel that everything is connected, and that hiding what we know is a waste of valuable resources.

We open up what we experience to the world. We want others to learn from our successes and our mistakes, as entrepreneurs and as companies. And we like to learn from others where they failed and succeeded.

We know what works for us, but we continually challenge our own assumptions. Very often, we have no idea what we’re doing. Realizing this makes every experience an opportunity to learn.

‘As for me, all I know is that I know nothing.’ Socrates

‘life is a mystery. My ignorance is based on this understanding. Your understanding is based on ignorance. This is why I am a humorous fool, and you are a serious jackass.’ Dan Millman – The Way of the Peaceful Warrior.

Create Sustainable Growth, Personally, Professionally, Economically, and Socially

The result of our work is always a reflection of how we are doing personally. So we see no distinction between our working and private lives. We stimulate growth by creating room for it. We invite people to share their insecurities and to come closer to their real selves.

In a constantly changing world, we see personal growth as an essential foundation upon which to build a company. This company can only aim to be successful if it works on creating long-term value. And long-term value is what’s needed to realize a sustainable economy, society, and world.

So instead of selling products and maximizing profits, the companies we support add value to people’s lives.
